"I see this and I know that we are not alone. There is a people who are with us. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this."
(Jerusalem)—"No longer sitting in our chairs at our conferences, we have come to physically stand with and pray God's blessing and protection over Sderot," declared International Christian Zionist Center (ICZC) Director, Jan Willem van der Hoeven.
Such was the mindset and purpose of thousands of Christians who journeyed to Israel during the Sukkot (the weeklong biblical Feast of Tabernacles) celebration. Walking through the streets of Israeli cities including Sderot and Tel Aviv, the Christians prayed, in a strong show of solidarity for Israel.
According to the Israel Today report, the heartfelt actions were, for the most part, well received by residents. One woman, named Eva, said, "I see this and I know that we are not alone. There is a people who are with us. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this."
The Israel Today account described the scene in Sderot:
As they marched through the streets, the Christians were greeted by grateful police officers, honking and cheering motorists, and weeping mothers who came out of their homes to witness the throng of foreigners who seemed to be the only people in the world concerned about them and their children.
