U.K. Church Holds Annual Service to Bless Parishoner's Pets

"All creatures, great and small, will be welcomed..."

(The U.K.)—Inspire Magazine has run an article that begins: "All creatures—great and small—will be welcomed at Southwell Minster this weekend, for the annual Animal Blessing Service..."

According to the article, people can bring their pets to receive a blessing in the church Nave after the informal service.

Said Canon Jacqui Jones: "The Animal Blessing Service is an established annual event at Southwell Minster and is not such an unusual idea as it first appears. Animal companions are important to many people...[they] are a part of God's creation and the service recognizes and celebrates this."
