UPDATE (Thurs. Oct. 4, 12:45 PT): According to BBC News, more than 3,200 miners who were trapped deep inside a gold mine in South Africa, yesterday, have been rescued.
There was, apparently, ventilation in the area where the miners were trapped, and none were injured, said the report.
Because rescuers had to use a smaller, adjacent shaft to bring them up, they could only rescue about 75 at-a-time. Follow the link provided for more information.
(Wed. Oct. 3rd)—A mine spokesperson stated that contact between the rescuers and the trapped miners has been made, and that no one was injured in the accident.
