(Jackson, Miss.)—Ballet Magnicat! is a Christian ballet company based in Jackson, Miss., that is on a mission to glorify the Lord. The company was founded in 1986 by Kathy Thibodeaux, a silver medalist at the II USA International Ballet Competition, and is yet another example of an art form that is being reclaimed for Christ. It draws dancers from around the globe.
According to an AP report, the company started with just four people and has grown to include two professional touring companies and 31 trainees.
Thibodeaux said most of the company's performances are stories that are Biblically based and just put to dance, with contemporary Christian and classical music.
"We use the same dance vocabulary that we were brought up in," she said. "We just sell a different message."
