Lest we judge it prematurely, I humbly call attention to the many Scriptures referring to supernatural visitations and pray that whatever it was, and whatever the villagers may be experiencing now, that by His Spirit, Jesus Christ would invade that village with His Power and Consuming Grace.
(Romania)—Admittedly, this news story falls somewhere in the category of weird news meets fact-is-stranger-than-fiction. But, since it has actually made the pages of mainstream publications such as NewsMax, etc., I think we can share it with our readers—albeit at arm's length—from a unique perspective as Christians.
The report states that Romanian police are investigating reports from 20 eye-witnesses in the small village of Gemeni, of a "Superman-like figure" seen "flying slowly at about 100 yards from the ground in a standing position." (Graphic: Google Maps)
Local policeman Ion Anuta said: "We talked to people of different ages who are all reliable citizens in our village. They all said they saw this strange creature who flew over their houses in his shiny blue costume. We'll just have to see what happens next."
Said one villager, Constantin Toader, "He didn't make any smoke or sound. Just cruising around."
Certainly, the entire thing could be a hoax; UFO sightings are notorious for their sensationalism and flawed science. But, that said, I found this particular incident to be drastically different from most UFO claims. No vehicle. No flashing lights. No bizarre physical attributes. No threats, commands, or invitations. No abductions, lobotomies, etc.
What—or shall I say, who—was it then? An aberration? A demon? An angel? A vivid imagination?
Lest we judge it prematurely, I humbly call attention to the many scriptures referring to supernatural visitations and pray that whatever it was, and whatever the villagers may be experiencing now, that by His Spirit, Jesus Christ would invade that village with His Power and Consuming Grace.
