"This young man's obedience may very well have saved our daughter (and her co-worker) from injury or death."
(Albany, OR)?Ever since our article The Miracle of an Obedient Heart first went out from Breaking Christian News, we've received calls and emails from people thanking us for printing it, and asking for permission to pass it on.
By way of short summary: the article was about a Christian man named Matthew, who had been driving and was about to cross the I-35 bridge into Minneapolis, just moments before its collapse. According to Matthew, the Lord gave him a vision of the bridge falling as he approached it, and told him to "Stop!" Matthew obeyed and stopped in his lane of traffic?halting its flow?and moments later, the bridge collapsed. He was just yards away from where the bridge fell, and he watched as two cars went over the edge. Because of Matthew's obedience to the Lord, he stopped the entire lane of traffic behind him from crossing that bridge and possibly perishing. Realizing this man may have kept them from dying in a catastrophe, a few of the drivers in that lane got out of their cars, walked up to Matthew, and thanked him.
Recently, we were contacted by Rick Wiles, host of TruNews.com and the TruNews daily broadcast, available on the internet as well as short-wave radio worldwide. Mr. Wiles interviewed both Matthew and me, regarding the article, and that broadcast is archived and available for listening, as well as to download at his website: www.trunews.com.
One of the main things I've prayed over this time, since writing the article, is that we might receive word from at least one of the people who were in that line of traffic, and who may have seen the article. This week that prayer may have been answered.
I received an email from the mother of a young woman, who was about to cross the I-35 bridge on August 1st, when the lane of traffic she was driving in suddenly came to a halt. Just a couple minutes later she saw the evidence of something terribly wrong coming from the bridge up ahead. It seems she was traveling in the same direction as Matthew, and her lane of traffic could very well have been the one that Matthew stopped.
Below are a few excerpts from her mother's email, which she's given me permission to share:
My husband, our youngest child and I just returned from a two week vacation?a first for us in many years. It was also the first time for us to leave our 20 year old daughter behind. We live in the Minneapolis area...
We were in Columbus, Ohio, on our way to the east coast, when we received a call from our daughter telling us the bridge collapsed?just before she was about to cross it?heading into the city from the north. She said traffic had stopped and she was getting impatient. And then she felt a rumble, heard a loud noise, and saw smoke rising from the bridge ahead.
While in Columbus I had such a strong sense of wanting to be home, wanting to hear of the miracles of the day, etc. The email from BCN had arrived the day we returned from vacation Aug.11th?God's timing overwhelms my spirit at times. I wanted to get on my email and read, but never in my wildest thoughts did I think I would read a miracle that had anything to do with a family member...yet I ponder this may very well be so.
This young man's obedience may very well have saved our daughter (and her co-worker) from injury or death.
And then I wondered if this real life window into catastrophe would change her mind, [or] cause fear, with regards to a scheduled trip abroad. (She is scheduled to be leaving for a two week trip she felt called to for the LORD, to a dangerous part of our world.) She said she felt more than ever she is to "go".
I bless her in her obedience unto our Holy God. And I bless this young man of your story. I thank him as a mom of a child whose life his action may have spared?that she may "go into the nations". I thank you for writing the story. Mostly, I thank God for His most amazing, glorious, and intriguing ways. I thank Him that while from our vantage point things may seem messy or unrelated, but that from His Abundance and Goodness Place on high is His rest, peace, and love that surpasses our understanding.
