(Asheville, NC)—After heading into a nearby hospital last weekend with intestinal bleeding, renowned evangelist Dr. Billy Graham is said to be in fair condition and may be released soon.
A statement on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association website read:
Evangelist Billy Graham continues to recover following a diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy Wednesday evening. His vital signs are normal, after resting well Wednesday night. As of 4 pm there was no evidence of intestinal bleeding. He will continue on a liquid diet and close observation for 72 hours, through Saturday evening, following the procedure. He is undergoing physical therapy to maintain his strength.
Mr. Graham has been sitting up for much of the day since early this morning, watching the news on television and reading newspapers, enjoying notes and cards offering prayer support, and getting updates from his family, including his son, Franklin, who begins an evangelistic festival tonight in Ecuador.
Mr. Graham is listed in fair condition. No date has been set for his discharge. He is hospitalized at Mission Health & Hospitals in Asheville, NC, near his mountain home in Montreat, NC.
