The two women reportedly said nothing to the waiting press, but broke into tears after seeing International Red Cross workers. They did not appear to be ill, contrary to earlier reports.
"They were able to walk and appeared to be well, but they were very emotional and were crying," said a Reuters report.
After a confirmation that the two had been released, the South Korean Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling for the remaining hostages held by the Taliban to be freed.
Of the 19 still being held by the terrorist organization, eighteen are women.
