Third Coast Sports is hosting eight events with Major League Baseball franchises and is in the middle of a 36-city minor league baseball tour. The Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins, St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals are all working with Third Coast to put on faith-based events in 2007. The minor league baseball tour began June 9 with the Mobile BayBears and concludes August 31 with the Tucson Sidewinders.
"Faith Day" festivities happen before or after the baseball game and feature a full concert with a nationally-recorded Christian music artist, an appearance by Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato from the hit Christian animated series VeggieTales and personal faith stories from some of the home teams' players. Thousands of churches buy group ticket packages to the events. 'Faith Days' were acclaimed worldwide in 2007, garnering over 100 million media impressions on four continents including the cover of the New York Times, NBC Nightly News, CBS Evening News, CNN, Fox News and ESPN.
"Once again, God has increased our territory in amazing fashion," said Brent High, president of Third Coast Sports. "To go from two Major League teams in 2006 to ten this year is really humbling. We hope to be good stewards of the opportunity we've been given and be able to talk about even more expansion in the sports world in the very near future."
This marks the third summer Third Coast Sports has hosted events across the country. Another all-star lineup of Christian music artists will perform at this year's "Faith Days" including MercyMe, Jeremy Camp, The Afters and Hawk Nelson.
