(Israel)-According to a report by YNet News, this year has seen the highest number of Jewish American youths enlist in the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).
While, among young Jews native to Israel, there seems to be a "phenomenon of evasion" that is occurring, there have already been 150 American youths who have made "aliya," and have enlisted with the IDF. (Photo: IDF Base, Israel.-YnetNews.com)
Nissan Lavi of Kibbutz Yiftah, noted, "They are the most enthusiastic soldiers in the army today. They are imbued with...sky-high motivation."
Most of the new recruits (70 percent) have Israeli-born parents who immigrated to the U.S., the others' families are Jewish-American.
The report adds that most of the Americans speak Hebrew, and are between the ages of 18 to 23.
