"People ask, 'Well, why should we have a healing room in our community?' And I always answer the same way: 'Do you have any sick people there?' [Because] where you have sick people you need healing and healing rooms." -Cal Pierce, Director, Healing Rooms Ministries
(Spokane, WA) - Many Pentecostals and other Christians are aware of the legacy of healing evangelist John G. Lake. Lake made history in the early part of the 20th century when he opened up some of the nation's first healing rooms after experiencing a powerful miracle ministry in South Africa as a young man. "John G. Lake was a man who had a hunger for God, hunger for the truth, the Word, and out of that Word, he'd come to the discovery that God wasn't just able to heal, but He was willing to heal," said Cal Pierce, director of Healing Rooms Ministries in Spokane - who was led by God to reopen Lake's "healing wells" which had closed in 1935 after the evangelist's death.
That was in the mid-1990's. Today, the ministry takes up an entire block of downtown Spokane and ministers to people from all over the world looking for healing and a touch of God in their lives. And Lake's original vision for healing rooms isn't just restricted to Washington State. There are currently 3,000 healing rooms operating in 75 different countries.
