"I don't believe there's some kind of evil genius behind the scenes, but I do believe it is telling where our nation is spiritually." –Pastor Caleb Kaltenbach
(California)—When Pastor Caleb Kaltenbach of Discovery Church in Simi Valley, California decided to check out the Bibles in a local Costco store recently, he was shocked to find a Bible labeled as "fiction." (Photo: Caleb Kaltenbach)
Caleb told CBN reporters that it "stuck out to me because I've never seen a Bible labeled fiction."
Snapping a picture of the labeled Bible with his phone, the pastor posted it on his Twitter feed, and it quickly gained national attention, according to the Charisma News report.
The comments regarding the issue came in from both sides, some supporting the "fiction" categorization, and others calling it insulting. (Nicholas Eckhart/Flickr/Creative Commons)
Either way, Costco has now apologized saying the Bible was mislabeled and that they are working to correct it.
"Our CEO is a devout Catholic. He obviously loves the Lord," Costco employee Dusty Groves said in the Charisma report. "This isn't something he is purposely trying to do. It was a mistake."
Pastor Caleb said he believes the employee but noted that while he didn't think there was "some kind of evil genius" behind the labeling issue, he does "believe it is telling where our nation is spiritually."
