REPORTER'S NOTE: Sadly, the news is filled with celebrities eventually "biting the dust," so it's refreshing to report on those who are raised back from the dust in Christ. -Teresa Neumann, BCN.
(Chicago, IL)—As a lead singer for Sonia Dada and a back-up singer for Chaka Chan, Shawn Christopher, 55, seemed to have arrived in the world of music. But as it turned out, her success was superficial and short-lived, resulting in drug abuse and disappointment. (Photo by: Will Nunnally/Chicago Tribune)
Today, however, Christopher is part of the Praise and Worship Team at Willow Creek Community Church where she is reportedly devoted to her work and thankful that she can help bring people into the Presence of the Lord.
In addition to worship at Willow Creek, she is also releasing a new Gospel solo album soon.
"I changed from the inside out," said Christopher, 55. "Had to say I am sorry to the people I hurt… Fortunately, they gave me another chance to prove that I was a new person. Today, I am grateful for the opportunity to make amends and show the love of Jesus to other people."
