As reported in the New York Times, Iraq's National Symphony Orchestra, composed of multi-faith musicians, performed for the even.

The symphony's chief conductor, Karim Wasfi, was said to be hopeful that in the future events like the "Master of the Souls" festival will be able to be held in a genuinely open way.
