"What a good heart to do good for other people."
When life gives you lemons…
You can most likely fill in the blanks of that old adage, but for Teanne Harris, the decision to make the best of a bad situation became reality, after her fiancé called off the wedding just 6 days before it was to happen. (Click the "Play" button to watch FOXNews video)
"It was a bad time for me, but the money was already spent [and couldn't be refunded], why let that go to waste?" explained Teanne, in a FOX News interview. "So, we tried to see what we could do to make the best of it. The Senior Center was across the street; we went over and talked to them—it was great."
Teanne's mother, Bari, was also interviewed and spoke of how proud she is of her daughter's decision to bless the seniors with a party in lieu of her daughter's wedding reception.
"I am proud of her, she's been an inspiration to a lot of people, and she's shown a lot of strength going through this. We're very happy that there were so many other people who were affected in a good way." said Bari.
One of the seniors who attended the party was also interviewed by FOX and said, "It was wonderful; everybody enjoyed it. …They were just thrilled, and danced like I haven't danced in a long time!" recalled Karen Hamelburg.
"What a good heart to do good for other people," Karen added, "Because I'm sure she was very, very sad, but there was a smile on her face as she was watching us."
