Mayor of Salinas, California, Calls Citizens to a Fast

The goal is to "help rid Salinas of its plagues of drug use, gang culture and increased levels of violence."

(Salinas, Ca.)—Mayor Dennis Donahue has announced a proclamation asking Salinas residents to fast—give up something during the week of July 20 - July 26—for peace.

According to KSBW News, Donahue, believes fasting is a "very powerful tool" and that there will be positive results from the fast.
