"The chaotic environments around some supermassive black holes crank out prodigious amounts of glass, rubies and sapphires..."
(NASA)—Sometimes, when I read descriptions of the New Heaven and New Earth in Revelation, I unconsciously gloss over some of the details because, quite frankly, they are simply too incredible to envision. (Artist Illustration: NASA/JPL-Caltech)
Take for example, Revelation 21:18-21, which says the New City is made of gold "as pure as glass", with walls of jasper decorated with every kind of precious stone. The twelve gates are said to be twelve pearls. My rational mind just can't comprehend such a glorious place. By faith, in the spirit, I can only imagine
Evidently, science is now giving us an explanation for a phenomenon that makes descriptions of Heaven seem like a simple fact of life.
Says reporter Ker Than, writing for LifeScience News, "Like enormous jewel factories in the sky, the chaotic environments around some super massive black holes crank out prodigious amounts of glass, rubies and sapphires, a new study finds...Traces of these minerals, as well as sand and marble, were recently found by scientists analyzing light from the region around a nearby super massive black hole using NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope."
