Kate Adamson perhaps knows better than anyone else just what Terri Schiavo is experiencing while in her 6th day without any food or water . . . the now vibrant woman was there herself about 10 years ago. Adamson suffered a rare double-brainstem stroke back in 1995. At the time, she was 33 and a mother of two small children.

Unable to even blink, the stroke had left Adamson completely paralyzed. Yet in that state, she says she could hear every conversation in her room. A decision was made to remove her feeding tube, and she says she endured the pain of starvation for 8 days, until her husband forced them to reinsert the tube. Looking back, Adamson says it was “one of the most painful experiences you can imagine . . . I was just like Terri . . . but I was alive! I could hear every word. They were saying ‘shall we just not treat her?’ . . . I suffered excruciating misery in silence.”

Kate is almost fully recovered (still retaining some paralysis on her left side) and is now a motivational and inspirational speaker. She has spoken out at rallies and on TV in support of Terri Schiavo’s life.
