(Tallahassee, FL) The State House passed a bill today that could block the removal of Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube, scheduled for tomorrow (Fri.) at 1pm. The legislature, passed by a margin of 78 to 37, would stop the withholding of food and water to those in persistent vegetative states, unless prior written permission was given by that person. Republican Rep. Kevin Ambler said, "This provides a safety net where the government stands up for the vulnerable who don't otherwise have a voice.” The Senate is still debating a similar measure.
