Rabbis and pastors, Christians and Jews, singing, worshipping and praying together is a common sight at “The Gathering” annual event, where the main purpose is praying for Israel. The event grew from a rally in support of the Jewish state back in 2002, from there the Gathering programs immerged as an opportunity for Christians and Jews alike in the Kansas City area to unite in their love for Israel. “The Gathering 3” will be held at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood on Monday, March 7, 2005.
Pastor Paul Brooks of the First Baptist Church of Raytown, Mo. has worked with local Rabbis from The Gathering’s inception. "From a Christian perspective, there is an additional purpose,” Brooks said, “With the rise of anti-Semitism around the world these days, we need to support our Jewish friends. By coming together and meeting each other, we're supporting each other. I mean, how can you support people you don't even know?”
