Colton Winters' post on Twitter immediately went viral.

"I will not accept hate and division. I choose to find common ground and work with the other side when possible," Winters wrote in a follow-up tweet. "That is how America was created, and that is what we must continue to do to better our country."

While plenty of Twitter users slammed the teenager for boasting about his friendship with a Trump supporter, there were some who praised Winters for his kind-hearted tweet.
