"We want you to know how grateful we are for this generous gift from you," part of the letter said, according to ABC11. "We also want you to know that we intend to use this money to start a nonprofit organization in Dillon's name into something you can be proud of ... Our goal is to help as many fellow Americans as possible for the rest of our lives."

While making a condolence call to Dillon's father—Chris Baldridge—President Trump was moved by the Baldridge's financial situation and told him he was sending a check for $25,000, according to a Business Insider's report by David Choi.

While it took several months to fulfill, the Baldridges reportedly received the check on Tuesday, along with a letter from the President which said:

"I am glad my legal counsel has been able to finally approve this contribution to you. Enclosed is a check for $25,000—I hope this will make things a bit easier, but nothing will ever replace your son, Dillon. He was an American hero."

While the report noted that the check was dated Oct. 18th—the same date as a Washington Post article that cited the President's condolence call and promised money—the Baldridges are clearly grateful.

In fact, the Business Insider report noted that the Baldridges told ABC11 they were writing a thank you letter to Trump, saying in part:

"We want you to know how grateful we are for this generous gift from you. We also want you to know that we intend to use this money to start a nonprofit organization in Dillon's name into something you can be proud of ... Our goal is to help as many fellow Americans as possible for the rest of our lives."
