The compelling nonfiction title, published by The Elijah List, urges fellow Americans to "repent, rebuild, repair and restore."

(Nashville, TN)—Alveda King's new book, "America Return to God: Repent From Sin, Rebuild the Wall, Repair the Gates, Restore the Dream," doesn't pull any punches. Like her famous uncle's fiery speeches, the younger King is passionate about the message she feels called to deliver, and the news isn't good.

In chapters like "Can We Come Back?," "Rebuilding America" and "Monsters at the Gates," the book takes a hard look at the current climate in the United States—from economic turmoil to violence and constant upheaval. King posits that our country may be in this situation because we have turned blind eyes and deaf ears to the plight of our brothers and sisters. By not caring about what happens to those the Bible calls us to love, America has veered off course.

King doesn't diagnose the problem without prescribing a solution, though. "There is hope," King says, "and there still may be time to return to God and rebuild God's wall of protection around our nation." But we must humble ourselves if we're to see change. We must also look to the Bible to find a blueprint for repairing the damage done. "There is much to be learned from the lessons in the books of Esther, Ezra and Nehemiah," King suggests.

King's message is connecting. Before the book even hit store shelves, her powerful words were winning fans. "We cannot say that we ... want to heal the United States without taking time to read this thoughtful book. It is strong medicine to heal a broken nation, and we need it to become one," said Cindy Jacobs, cofounder of General International. Bishop Harry Jackson, the senior pastor of Hope Christian Church, added, "There is no more seasoned voice to call our nation back to God than Alveda King ... The passion and fire of her forefathers flows in her spirit ... God still has a dream for America. He still has a safe harbor for our families and a specific calling for each of us to enter in the flow of the next Great Awakening." (Photo: Alveda King/via WND)
