What nation/culture would you want to emulate or prefer to be a part of? The Sudan? Saudi Arabia? Iran? Venezuela? Cuba? Russia? France? Show me the flawless history—both past and current—of any one of these countries.

[Open letter to Colin Kaepernick via Facebook] So you don't think America was ever great? You don't think it was great when over 360,000 Union soldiers died in the Civil War to end slavery? (Photo: Colin Kaepernick sitting through the National Anthem/via Newsiosity)

I suppose the Abolitionists, scorned and persecuted for their beliefs, weren't that great either; nor the Republican Party which gave 100% support to the 13th Amendment to abolish slavery (as opposed to 23% Democrat support). Let's not forget the overwhelming support by Americans for Civil Rights in the 1960's. No, America couldn't have been great then.

Or what about the noble, on-going efforts to save unborn lives of all color? And electing the nation's first black President? For two terms? Really?

Here's a "fact" for you: Donald Trump isn't running on "Make America Perfect Again." There's no such thing as a perfect country, or history, or tribe or race. Trump is wanting to "Make America Great Again."

What nation/culture would you want to emulate or prefer to be a part of? The Sudan? Saudi Arabia? Iran? Venezuela? Cuba? Russia? France? Show me the flawless history—both past and current—of any one of these countries. You can't.

In fact, when it comes to slavery, did you even know that between 650 AD and 1900 Arabs enslaved 20 million Africans from the trans-Sahara trade route? (Photo: Teresa Neumann/via Goodreads.com)

Please, Colin, do a bit more research and show some respect and appreciation for this imperfect, but great country that you are so privileged to be a citizen of.
