"So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand. He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law." (Nehemiah 8:2-3)

For 90 continuous hours, beginning with the reading of Genesis 1:1, every word of the Bible will be read aloud and without commentary, culminating at noon on Thursday, May 5, with the reading of the final chapters of the book of Revelation.

During these five days, hundreds of Bible Believers will travel to the West Front of the U.S. Capitol to read a portion of the Bible, to listen and to pray. The U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon began in 1990.

The event serves to honor the Bible, celebrate religious freedom and unite the diverse branches of Christianity around the Bible. There will be 100 English and foreign language versions of the Bible available to be read.
