"Because they have such oral traditions, we found that especially with the children—but even with adults—that the flannel graphs are a very effective tool for evangelism."

Or maybe you were the teacher using the flannel graph to communicate the Gospel in ways young children can understand?

Even in this digital age, such a simple tool for illustrating an oral lesson is being used more and more, particularly in Southeast Asian countries, according to a Mission Network News report.

Dyane Romeijn with Vision Beyond Borders explained that the flannel graph is especially effective in areas where education isn't always available.

"Because they have such oral traditions," said Romeijn, "we found that especially with the children—but even with adults—that the flannel graphs are a very effective tool for evangelism."

"To bring in a flannel graph where they can actually show the pictures as they share the stories of the Gospel, it actually helps people visualize and retain that information because they're not just hearing, but they're also seeing," she added.
