Outgoing Prime Minister Stephen Harper was a strong supporter and outspoken advocate for Israel. But then, he was a conservative, pro-Christian leader also.

CBC.ca(Canada)—Canadians woke up this morning to the news that they had elected the first leftist prime-minister in over a decade. Justin Trudeau, son of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, unseated current conservative prime minister, Stephen Harper. (Photo via CBC.ca)

A report in Canada Free Press quoted Canadian broadcast network CBC as crediting U.S. President Barak Obama's "Ground Team" which was sent to Canada last year to ensure a liberal victory in the national election.

The report noted that many "main-street Canadians" were in shock at Trudeau's victory because the only poll predicting his win was at CBC, which will benefit financially from Trudeau's election.

Prime Minister Harper was a strong supporter and outspoken advocate for Israel. Although not much is known yet about Trudeau's stand on Israel, if his classic liberal beliefs on other issues are any indication, such as pledging to raise taxes, legalize marijuana, loosen immigration and prioritize climate control, Canada may not be Israel's "friend" for much longer.
