Terror Plot Uncovered Involving Attack on V-J Day Celebrations in London

According to a Sky News report, British intelligence services have discovered a terror plot aimed toward events surrounding the commemoration of V-J day in London scheduled for this weekend. (Graphic via SkyNews)

The ceremonies are to be attended by Queen Elizabeth II, and British PM David Cameron among WWII Vets and others.

The uncovered terror plot reportedly involved the possible detonation of pressure cooker bombs similar to those used in the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.

Metropolitan Police issued a statement regarding the discovery: "While the UK threat level from international terrorism remains severe, we would like to reassure the public that we constantly review security plans for public events, taking into account specific intelligence and the wider threat. Our priority is the safety and security for all those attending or involved. The public are encouraged to continue with their plans to attend or take part in events as normal." Reportedly, no arrests have been made, however, counter-terrorism officers are "monitoring reports and chatter about the plot."
