The bill now heads to Gov. Mary Fallin to be signed into law.

[CBN News] The Oklahoma House has passed a bill calling for a 72-hour waiting period for women seeking abortions.

That would make Oklahoma the fourth state in the nation to require a three-day wait, along with Missouri, South Dakota and Utah.

The bill now heads to Gov. Mary Fallin to be signed into law.

"In Oklahoma, we have a waiting period for divorce of 10 days. If there are minor children it is 90 days," state Sen. Greg Treat (R) said earlier this month. "We should also take it very seriously when we're talking about the irrevocable decision of abortion."

Doctors in Oklahoma are already required to give women the option for an ultrasound and monitoring of the baby's heartbeat, at least 24 hours before an abortion.
