The Post quoted one of Emwazi's close friends as saying: "I have no doubt that Mohammed is Jihadi John. He was like a brother to me... I am sure it is him." -Reuters

According to reports, the masked terrorist who headed up the ISIS beheading videos is really Mohammed Emwazi, a Briton—born in Kuwait—who grew up in a well-to-do family in London. (Screenshot: YouTube)

Emwazi even graduated college with a computer programming degree, said the Washington Post.

He reportedly traveled to Syria from the UK in about 2012, and joined ISIS some time later.

Intelligence agencies in the UK and the US have been working to track down the identity of the terrorist nicknamed "Jihadi John," and were able to determine who he is using "investigative techniques including voice and facial recognition as well as interviews with former hostages," said a Reuters report.
