I Am Second Goes to Another Level With Testimony of Young Cancer Patient Ethan Hallmark

I Am Second

Watch how this little boy's life is impacting everyone he comes in contact with.

EDITOR'S NOTE: In all honesty I hesitated to watch the feature film about Ethan Hallmark because, as a mother, I thought it would be just too sad. But now having watched it, I'm so glad I did. And I encourage anyone who feels sympathy, but is at a loss of what to do or say to families who endure the pain of walking through sickness or cancer with their child, to watch it. This short film is a very real and candid window into the lives of Ethan and his family members and friends. The video is beautifully produced, and Ethan's trust in God's plan above all else is truly inspiring. (Midlothian, TX)—Four years ago Ethan Hallmark was just another kid baseball player. Little did he know he would become a reluctant community icon after courageously fighting stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare type of childhood cancer.

I am Second started out to produce a "white chair" film with Ethan similar to other I am Second films. However, as the story unfolded, the project grew to include his family, friends and hometown of Midlothian, Texas. It grew beyond the bounds of the white chair and into a short documentary film capturing the life Ethan embodied—courage through suffering that inspired an entire community.

Ethan's story is bigger than one boy. It's about a family and a community intertwined in something larger. A journey, called life that we take together.

When that journey leads us to darkest of places, we discover that even just a small amount of light can overcome it.
