Actor Nicolas Cage Explains Why He Decided to Star in "Left Behind"—Opening Friday in Theaters

The "Left Behind" remake is set to release to theaters on Friday, Oct. 3rd. This time around the Hollywood film used a $15 million budget; but starring veteran actor Nicolas Cage says it wasn't the money that attracted him to the lead role. (Photo via Facebook/Breathecast)

In an interview clip making the rounds on Facebook, Cage explains that it was sibling influence that sparked his interest in "Left Behind." (Click here to watch the clip)

"My brother, Mark is a pastor," explains Cage in the short clip. "He kept saying, ‘Nicky,' he calls me, ‘I think you should make this movie, it's a great series of books.' He was the one who inspired me to look at it."

The seasoned actor added, "I would talk with him about it, and clearly he is very immersed in all of this. So that was interesting... and he's excited about it."

Cage stars in the lead role of Rayford Steele, an airline pilot, and one of those ‘left behind' after the millions suddenly disappear in the Rapture.

While Cage has Christians in his family, it still was not clear whether or not he is a Believer himself.
