"I walked in that church an addict, and I came out free." -Smokey Robinson

(Los Angeles, CA)—74-year-old Motown great, Smokey Robinson—who wrote the iconic hit "My Girl"—shared his testimony recently in an interview with The Telegraph. In that interview, Robinson revealed that by the age of 41 he had become a cocaine addict.

Years later, said Robinson, a friend took him to a small "storefront" church in Los Angeles where a pastor prayed for him.

"She told me that God had told her I was coming," he said. "And she told me all the things that were happening to me, physically and emotionally and mentally—which I [had] shared with no one on earth! No one knew. She told me every one of them that night. She said God had showed her what was going on."

"I walked in that church an addict," he added, "and I came out free. May of 1986. I've never looked back."
