One such crackdown happened recently when the leader of a Chinese trafficking ring was apprehended and—on Friday—sentenced to death, according to reports.

The ring involved trafficking babies, and reports stated that 23 boys and pregnant women from Vietnam had been brought into China, and the babies then sold for adoption.

The ring had operated between 2010 and 2011, and was discovered and closed down by police in 2011.

The Christian Headlines report noted that four baby smuggling rings had been stopped by police and "some 380 infants were rescued and more than 1,000 suspects taken into custody."
