Alarm on Capitol Hill over Russian Troop Buildup, "More Indicators that Russia could Invade Eastern Ukraine"

The report caused a great deal of alarm on Washington DC's Capitol Hill, as a senior US official told Fox News, "The thinking in the US Government is that the likelihood of a major Russian incursion into Ukraine has increased."

Estimations by some US lawmakers on the numbers of Russian troops are speculated at about 30,000, and others, such as Rep. Michael Turner of Ohio, have claimed that it could be as high as 80,000.

According to the Fox News report, NATO's Gen. Philip Breedlove told members of the House Armed Services Committee on Thursday morning, "We're all concerned about what Russia is doing on the border of Ukraine. The size of the forces have a message that are not congruous with respecting the borders."
