"In the Sinai Peninsula, snow fell on Mt. Sinai and St. Catherine's monastery at its foot. Sleet washed the dusty fronds of desert palm trees." –LA Times report

Snow in Cairo(Middle East)—Parts of Israel may be more used to snow than Egypt, but Cairo residents were left marveling at the cold, white covering over streets and parks on Friday. (Photo: AFP)

While Jerusalem received almost three feet of snow; Cairo had more of a "dusting," however, it had been over 100 years since the last snowfall was recorded in Egypt's capital city.

Many people in and around Cairo took to social media, snapping photos of the rare sight and sharing them online.
