Two miracles in one.
(Dorchester, UK)—A lot of mothers say their baby changed their lives unexpectedly, but few have as dramatic a story as Nicola Weller.
In September 2009, British doctors discovered Weller had a cancerous tumor in her womb and scheduled a follow-up appointment 12 weeks later at Dorset County Hospital. But just before her surgery in January 2010, a new scan revealed the tumor had vanished.
But there was another surprise. Despite her use of the IUD, Weller was now seven weeks pregnant.
Doctors said hormones produced during her unexpected pregnancy destroyed the tumor by causing it to "disintegrate."
"I'd had the contraceptive coil fitted," Weller told the Daily Mail. "Getting pregnant was a miracle in itself—but to find that my unborn baby had caused this tumor to disappear was a further miracle."
Weller gave birth to a baby boy, Brandon, in September 2010, almost exactly a year after her cancer scare. Mother and baby are still healthy to this day.
"My baby ended up saving my life," Weller said. "Without him, I may not have been here today."
