"It is the first time to have the nativity scene at the heart of our state government."
(Tallahassee, FL)—For the first time in Florida's history, the Capitol building in Tallahassee will house a Christmas Nativity scene for the month. On December 27th the Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus figures will be joined by three figures representing the Magi (wise men) and will remain until January 6th.
The crèche is being privately funded and hosted by the Florida Nativity Scene Committee, and is being backed by the Thomas More Society law firm.
According to the Charisma News report, the traditional display will be featured in the center of the Capitol rotunda.
"This is historic," says Pam Olsen, Florida Nativity Scene Committee chairperson. "It is the first time to have the nativity scene at the heart of our state government."
