"Thou Shalt Not Kill" Billboards and Posters Displayed in Detroit

The decision was made after an emergency meeting of local church leaders to address escalating violence in the city.

(Detroit, MI)—Several especially violent crimes in Detroit recently caused church leaders to hold an emergency meeting at Greater New Tried Stone Baptist Church last week.

One of the tangible results of that meeting was that the leaders decided to distribute "Thou Shalt Not Kill" banners and posters around the city.

"We all have to do what we can do, and right now we don't have a respect in our communities for life; we don't have a respect for many things," said Pastor Ovella Andreas. "Our goal now is to infiltrate and saturate our communities with this commandment, via buses, [and] via billboards.

"This is a crisis," she added, "and we have to come together now to do what we can. I truly know if what we do what we can, God will do what we cannot; but we're not doing all that we can."
