(Washington, DC)—According to a CBN News report, a huge scheduled cut to the US food assistance budget will happen on Friday, November 1st, causing about 47 million families to receive less in food stamps.
Many churches, says the report, are poised to help take up some of the slack, however, there is concern among them that their benevolence funds will come up short.
The food stamp program cuts are reportedly expected to trim some $5 billion from the $80 billion program.
In practical terms for those families who receive food assistance, it means an assisted family of four will lose about $36 a month.
