"The speaker asked me a couple of questions and the next thing I knew I was on the floor. No one had touched me. I felt an amazing sense of peace and love ...For the first time in eight years, I touched my toes. It was quite remarkable. I was in no pain."
(United Kingdom)—In a recent Inspire interview with Paul Hickman, the athlete shared how he was miraculously healed of a sports injury in his early days that threatened to cripple him for life.
Of the pain he endured before his healing, Hickman said that it almost destroyed him.
"I was in so much pain for six years," he said, "that 20 painkillers a day had no effect. I visited doctors, tried every form of alternative medicine. I tried to commit suicide just to get away from the pain."
That changed one day when he was invited to a Christian dinner by a sports colleague. Even though he thought Christianity was for "weak-minded people," Hickman went because he was in such great pain. After the dinner, speaker Bob Maine invited people who were ill to receive prayer for healing. When Hickman saw some people fall to the floor while being prayed for, he almost left. His friend, however, encouraged him to go to the "altar" for prayer.
After declining three times, Hickman finally relented, thinking he could "at least then go on home and take some painkillers."
That never happened.
Hickman said, "The speaker asked me a couple of questions and the next thing I knew I was on the floor. No one had touched me. I felt an amazing sense of peace and love. Eventually, I was helped up. Bob told me that God had told him to tell me to do something I could not do. For the first time in eight years, I touched my toes. It was quite remarkable. I was in no pain."
