Colorado floodingUPDATE-9/13/13-9AM PT—KDVR.com: (LYONS, CO)-Authorities have ordered all residents of the town of Lyons to leave Friday morning and the Colorado National Guard has been called into to help.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said officials planed to evacuate the town of about 2,000 around daybreak.

Lyons has been cut off by what some city officials have called a 500-year flood.

The National Weather Service issued an alert for "an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation" throughout the region. "Move to higher ground now," it warned. "Act quickly to protect your life."

NWS meteorologist Bob Kleyla was quoted as saying a 20-foot high wall of water was reported in Left Hand Canyon just outside Boulder. One person reportedly died in the mountain enclave of Jamestown, when a structure collapsed.

Boulder's Office of Emergency Management spokeswoman, Gabrielle Boerkircher, said they were trying to get help to James town, but "a lot of towns need assistance and we cannot get through."

As the rain continues, keep these threatened fellow countrymen in prayer.
