India Christians(Northern India)—Although persecution from the Hindu militant extremists against Christians has been on the increase, the Church in Northern India seems to be holding steady and— in fact—growing, according to a CBN News report.

The latest form of persecution against Christians has come from the government in the guise of a law ironically titled the "Freedom of Religion Bill."

The bill and others like it, make it illegal for a person to convert to Christianity without permission from the government. Penalties include fines and jail time.

Pastor AbeOne pastor in the region, Pastor R. Abraham, who co-founded the New India Church of God, noted to CBN News that everyday people in the area aren't necessarily antagonistic toward Believers.

"When you are working among the common man, he is not that hostile because people are looking for answers, they are looking for God," said the pastor.

Abraham added, "When you bring the salvation, the healing, the blessings from Jesus, the common people always respond to the Gospel. Otherwise we can't do the work."
