"It will actually vibrate in the chest. When the patient is having a problem with blood flow, they feel the vibration and they automatically know that is a sign to go to the hospital." -Dr. Andrew Kaplan

Fortify device(Phoenix, AZ)—A new medical device, implanted beneath the skin in a patient's chest, sends out a vibrating alarm that warns of an impending heart attack hours before it happens.

Called the Fortify VR, officials from Banner Heart Hospital where it has been used on trial, say it was been "extremely successful."

"It's like having a team of doctors walking around with you all the time," said Joe Coia, one of the patients who participated in the study.
