New "Heaven Is For Real" Movie being filmed in Canada

(Winnipeg, Manitoba)—Following the New York Times bestselling book, "Heaven Is For Real," an adaptation for a movie has begun filming.

According to a ChristianWeek report, the movie will follow the book in telling the story of Colton Burpo, son of a Nebraska pastor, who experienced Heaven while hovering between life and death on an operating table during emergency surgery.

Writing and directing the film is Randall Wallace, who wrote films such as Braveheart and Pearl Harbor. The movie will reportedly be produced by Sony Pictures, with assistance from Buffalo Gal Pictures (from Winnipeg), says the ChristianWeek article.

Hope is what the film is all about," said Phyllis Laing, CEO and president of Buffalo Gal Pictures. Laing noted that people are in need of some hope right now.

Laing adds that the book touched many around the world, and that the new film "has the potential to reach a lot of people."
