Editor's Note: It's refreshing to hear some GOOD news from Iraq for a change, and this is perhaps among the best for the simple yet powerful reason that "the entrance of [God's] Word gives light." As the Word of God is given to children and adults in Iraq and read, it is the opportunity for Iraqi eyes and hearts to be opened and illuminated by His Spirit. Remember, God's Word will not return to Him void, but will accomplish what He sends it out to do. - Aimee Herd, Breaking Christian News.
According to a report from Bible Network News, the infrastructure of the Bible Society in Iraq has, in less than a year, been set in motion. They are based in a Christian residential district in Baghdad, with a staff of three and a single van for delivering Scriptures.
As the process of registering as a non-profit organization in Iraq continues, and they establish themselves among various advisors and officials, the Bible Society in Iraq continues their current main activity: distributing the Scriptures. Working with various organizations such as World Compassion, Christian Freedom International, World Evangelical Alliance and Campus Crusade, thousands of Arabic New Testaments, Illustrated Bibles and Pocket Bibles have been distributed -- many through humanitarian aid packages.
