"The only thing I knew to do was to cling to Jesus and pray, and that's what I did." -Angela Howell

(Northport, AL)—In October 2007, Angela Howell—who was 12 weeks pregnant—experienced the unimaginable when she suffered a massive stroke.

"I was very, very scared," said Howell. "The only thing I knew to do was to cling to Jesus and pray, and that's what I did."

If that wasn't terrifying enough, following surgery to remove the blood clot which caused the stroke, Howell experienced a severe "brain bleed."

Howell familyThe church and friends and family quickly gathered to pray for a miracle. Their prayers were answered.

According to a report in Baptist Press News, a doctor friend of the family said that "out of all his years in the medical field, he had only seen two times where one could absolutely say it was nothing but a miracle, and Angela Howell's case was one of them."

As for Angela's baby? During the course of her post-operative rehabilitation, some doctors suggested she abort her child as they believed the baby would be born with multiple handicaps. Angela refused, saying she knew God had a plan.

Notes the report: "Without the ability to speak due to her paralysis . . . Howell instead gave her answer to the doctor in sign language." In essence, she told the doctor that God would take care of her unborn daughter. And indeed, He did.

Laci Belle Howell was "born just perfect and she is such a blessing to us," said Angela.

Five years on, Angela Howell—though still battling some disabilities as a result of her ordeal—is committed to boldly sharing her testimony of God's love and faithfulness to all who will hear.

"Of course I don't like all the disabilities that I have," she said. "But the thing that I do like is that I have learned 100 percent how to truly rely on God's strength to make it through each day."
