"My prayers have always been of thankfulness. God has been so good to me. Tithing is a great inspiration in my life. People don't know that I gave most of my money away. Most of it goes to churches." -Colonel Sanders

Colonel Sanders Waymon Rodgers was Colonel Sanders' pastor when the enterprising American creator of Kentucky Fried Chicken was alive. Today, Waymon's son, Dr. Bob Rodgers, has written a book about Sanders that details parts of the Colonel's life that few people may be aware of.

For example, Rodgers notes that Sanders was baptized in the River Jordan in 1967 shortly after his conversion to Christianity.

"My dad knelt down beside [Sanders]" writes Rodgers, "and said, 'Colonel, would you like to get born again?"

With tears in his eyes, the Colonel reportedly replied, "Do you think that Jesus could save me to the point where He would take away my cussing?"

From that moment on, says Rodgers, Colonel Sanders "never took the Lord's name in vain."

Another entry in the Rodgers book describes how Sanders was healed from a growth in his colon. The Colonel received prayer before surgery and following the procedure, the doctor told Sanders, "Colonel, when I opened you up there weren't any polyps."
