"It really freaked her out, and she started realizing that there is power in Jesus' name . . . that He [is] the Son of God."
Kristine McGuire had become what she thought was a "Ghost Hunter," but when she encountered an evil presence she never had before, she was compelled to call on the Jesus she knew as a child; and her whole world changed.
In a riveting CBN video, McGuire explains how she and her husband—both raised in Christian homes—had fallen away from their faith when hard times hit their marriage.
Estranged from her husband, Tom, Kristine began to blend the Christianity she'd known with her new interest in witchcraft—even becoming a "full-fledged witch."
During this time, Tom rededicated his life to the Lord and after reconciling with Kristine, he began to pray in earnest for his wife.
Although Kristine admits the Holy Spirit kept trying to get her attention, she ignored His prodding until one night when she was "ghost hunting," and found herself calling on the Name she hadn't called on in a long time.
"I realized there was a demon in this place . . . at one point I felt like I should command that spirit to leave in the name of Jesus. There was an 'authority' I hadn't used in years," explained Kristine in the video. Her exact words—caught on a video made that night were, "In the name of Jesus, you are gonna leave, you're uninvited. Now he's gonna go where Jesus sends him."
A few days later, Kristine received an email with a video clip from that evening, and on it she was able to actually hear an "inhuman" scream when she rebuked the spirit in the name of Jesus.
"It was the strangest thing I ever heard," Kristine said. "It scared me to be quite honest . . . I had just heard a demon react to the true, honest power of Jesus' name."
Kristine gave the clip to her husband Tom, who is an audio engineer. He examined the WAV audio file for any edits—there were none.
Tom said, "This [was] a real clip of audio. It really freaked her out, and she started realizing that there is power in Jesus' name . . . that He [is] the Son of God."
Kristine came to the conclusion then that she couldn't combine any kind of witchcraft with Christianity. "I realized that I had been fooled; I'd given myself over to demons," she explained. "It was at that moment that I got down on my face and poured my heart out to the Lord and asked for His forgiveness. I renounced everything that I had been involved in."
Tom says that he believed in the power of God to answer prayer, and so he prayed continuously for his wife.
God was faithful to answer those prayers.
