"Before the all-around competition, I was just praying to God and saying, 'Thank you for all, God. No matter what happens tomorrow I'm still going to be with you. Win or lose, I'm still going to bless you and I'm still going to give you all the glory."
(Virginia Beach, VA)—U.S. Olympic gold gymnast Gabby Douglas recently spoke with CBN about her faith. Her autobiography "Grace, Gold and Glory: My Leap of Faith" was recently released.
When asked about what she was thinking when she received her medal on the Olympic podium while listening to the Star Spangled Banner, Douglas said, "I was thinking 'Thank You, God. Thank You for bringing me to this moment.'"
Recounting her childhood, Douglas said, "When I was a baby, I was very sick. I remember my mom just telling me that she kept praying and praying for me every single night when I was up coughing or I couldn't keep food down. And she was just praying, praying for me every single night, and finally, God answered her prayers."
As Gabby continues to tour professionally and talk about her book, she hopes to inspire with the message that "Anything is possible, if you just believe."
